What to do when your boiler pressure is low

HOW DO I TOP MY BOILER PRESSURE UP?

For this you will need to find the filling loop, some are integral to the boiler (never remove the case from the appliance) and some are external. Find the filling loop, open the valve and repressurise your heating system. Check your boiler manual for instructions on how to do this.

WHAT SHOULD THE PRESSURE BE?

Ideally the pressure should be between 1.0-1.5 bar when cold.

I HAVE TO TOP UP MY PRESSURE ALL THE TIME

Having to do this is an indication that there may be a leak on the system, within the boiler or a problem with expansion. We would first advise that you check all visible pipework and radiators for leaks, don’t just assume because you haven’t noticed a leak that there isn’t one. Failing that, you will need to call a Gas Safe registered engineer. We are Gas Safe and fully insured and are happy to come out and do some investigation work to find the issue.

WILL A BOILER SERVICE FIX MY BOILER?

No a boiler service won’t fix the boiler, however it can pre-empt problems before they occur and save you money in the long run on expensive repairs and running costs.
