Currently a typical heat pump installation with larger radiators etc is around 3X the price of a gas boiler installation and up to £15,000 in some cases, although it is worth noting there is a government grant available to help with this. Q. When is it a good time to replace my boiler? A. In truth there is never a good time, it's not something people generally plan for and we'd all much rather spend our savings on something nicer like a summer holiday. However, forward planning can make the process easier and changing the boiler in the summer months means less disruption when it's colder. Waiting until the boiler is on its last legs or has completely broken down could end up in leaving your home cold and with no hot water for a period of time, and if that happens to be in the winter that would not be nice!
